Description
Hermann Zapf has been called “the greatest type designer of our time, and very possibly the greatest type designer of all time” by the type historian Robert Bringhurst. In addition to his superlative achievements as the designer of some 200 other typefaces, Zapf is also one of the greatest typographers and book designers. Nowhere are his skills as a typographer more in evidence than in Manuale Typographicum, containing 100 arrangements of assorted typefaces.
In addition to his own hugely popular fonts, Zapf’s first Manuale also displays inventive arrangements of dozens of other types from the Stempel collection. Meticulously printed at Stempel, Zapf’s Manuale has been called “a masterpiece of invention and just as masterfully typeset.”
