Description
This souvenir tunnel book, or peepshow, mirrors the animal dioramas seen in New York’s Hall of African Mammals in the American Museum of Natural History. Philip Plant (1901–41), besides being a financial supporter of the lengthy expedition—which doubled as his honeymoon!—was also a hunter “collecting” large-game specimens for the dioramas. His color photographs of the safaris allowed the dioramas to be life-like. Duenewald Printing Corp, a company heavily represented in movable books in the 1940s, was the lithographer and printer.
