John Adams wrote this book in 1790. It was published shortly after he returned from Britain. He listed “An American Citizen” as the author of his book because he wanted to remain anonymous and didn’t want to receive any praise. Discourses on Davila is a series of papers that discuss political philosophy from a statesman’s perspective. Adams presented this copy to Ward Nicholas Boylston, his cousin and a benefactor of Harvard University. NF.
