Description

This booklet and catalog for the products produced by George Westinghouse’s namesake company provided not only a list of items a railroad customer could buy, but also took the time to explain the principles of the Westinghouse Air Brake. The system was an important improvement over hand-turned brakes that resulted in deaths and injuries to railroad brakemen and damage to railroad equipment. Within a few years, nearly all major railroads were employing air brake systems.
